2020 Player Rankings (Minnesota)

2020 Top 15 (All rankings are based on the observations FCH has made based on games watched, film, and highlights, and are the personal opinions of FCH. Players are ranked as college prospects, not necessarily on high school production. It is recognized that all of these players are extremely talented, and that there are many more talented players not in these rankings.)

1. Jalen Suggs- 6’4 2020 PG, Minnehaha Academy, Grassroots Sizzle
The five star prospect’s game speaks for itself on the court. Part of a talented Minnehaha squad that won the AA state title, Suggs is leaving his mark on Minnesota basketball. Playing varsity ball since 7th grade, Jalen averaged 16 ppg, 7 rpg, 5 apg, and 3.5 spg as a sophomore. Perhaps most impressive was Jalen’s performance at the state tournament, taking over for 23.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and 4.3 apg. Standing at 6’5, Jalen combines good size for a point guard, with elite athleticism and strength. He is very dangerous penetrating the defense, and uses his strength to finish through contact. Also a division one prospect as a quarterback, Jalen translates his passing to the basketball court, able to set up his teammates for open jumpers and layups consistently. Considered by many to be the top 2020 point guard in the country, Jalen will continue to dominate Minnesota basketball for the next two seasons.

Possessing a deadly step back jumper to match his ability to finish at the rim, Gabe averaged 19 ppg for an up and coming Rochester Mayo team. Madsen poured in a school record 53 points in a win over Red Wing, making 12 three pointers in the outing. Look for Gabe to turn heads throughout the state with his play as a junior.

Patterson is also a proven passer, averaging 5 apg to go along with his 23 ppg while leading Brooklyn Center to a state tournament appearance. Playing a year up with Howard Pulley’s 17s, Lu’cye is averaging 8.2 ppg and a team leading 3.1 apg on the EYBL circuit. This was evident in a game against Hopkins, where Drake scored 39 points, including an 8 point spree in just 2 seconds of game time. Drake has a lighting quick release, and gets good elevation on his three point shot. He is also a tough finisher at the rim, absorbing contact and finishing around taller defenders consistently. Drake averaged 18 ppg while playing with a swagger matched by very little throughout the state. His scoring ability and toughness have gained the attention of various division one programs throughout the midwest.

Austin Andrews is one of the hardest workers in the state. Often times matched up against opposing players 3 or 4 inches taller than him, Austin put in gutsy defensive performances. Using a high basketball IQ and pure grit, he made up for the height difference in those situations. On offense, Austin possesses great fundamentals and post footwork, as well as the ability to hit the outside jump shot. He averaged 18.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg on a very talented and young Eden Prairie team, that advanced all the way to the state semi-finals.
