2021 Player Rankings (Wisconsin)

(All rankings are based on the observations FCH has made based on games watched, film, and additional research, and are the personal opinions of FCH. Players are ranked as college prospects, not necessarily on high school production. It is recognized that all of these players are extremely talented, and that there are many more talented players not in these rankings.)

1. Michael Foster Jr. (6'9 PF Milwaukee Washington/Milwaukee Spartans)
Formerly a class of 2022 player, Michael Foster skipped past 8th grade and exploded onto the national recruiting scene as a freshman at Milwaukee Washington. The talented forward prospect combines height, athleticism, and skill to create one of the more intriguing prospects in the nation. As a young power forward, he already has range from three and a pull-up jumper that is near impossible to block with his height. As a 14 year old, Michael was doing things on the court that would be impressive at the college level. He has displayed good passing vision out of the post, and is a dominant shot blocker on the defensive end. Michael's impressive freshman year saw him put up 18.4 ppg, including an outburst of 33 against Milwaukee Morse-Marshall. If Michael continues his growth as a player, he has an extremely bright future as one of the best 2021's in the country.
Offers of Note: UCLA, Arizona State, Minnesota, Marquette, and LSU among others.

2. Patrick Baldwin Jr. (6'8 W Sussex Hamilton/Phenom U)
The decision between putting Michael Foster or Patrick Baldwin at #1 is extremely difficult, as they both have different playing styles and are top-5 national level prospects. Patrick brings to the table a very mature and skilled game at a young age, and is virtually unstoppable without bringing extra defenders to help on him. It is extremely rare for a freshman to receive constant double teams, but that is what opposing teams had to do to try to slow down Patrick last season. Despite the constant doubles, Patrick averaged 16.3 ppg and led his team to the state tournament. His jump shot is lethal and he has the ability to hit shots from seemingly anywhere in a half-court set. Patrick won't amaze you with anything athletically, although he had a nice dunk at the state tournament, but his smoothness on the court is something unparalleled at the high school level. He makes things look so easy, which is why nearly every school in the country is already trying to recruit him.
Offers of Note: Duke, UCLA, Wisconsin, Minnesota, USC, and Florida among others.

3. Tyrese Hunter (5'11 G Racine St. Catherine's/Milwaukee Spartans)
The top point guard prospect in the class, Tyrese Hunter is an intriguing athlete. He's not the tallest or the biggest player, but his skill and feel for the game makes him stand out. Tyrese earned the starting point guard spot as a freshman at Racine St. Cat's, a known basketball powerhouse in Wisconsin. His energy, work ethic, and athleticism make him a good defender who can turn defense into offense. On the fast break Tyrese has a very crafty euro-step that he uses to avoid shot blockers and get a clean layup off. Tyrese has also increased his already impressive vertical, and could very well be the most athletic guard in the state. He has a nice three point shot, but also is quick and aggressive getting to the rim which allowed him to average 11.2 ppg his freshman season. For such a talented scorer, Tyrese is very unselfish and will pass up a shot if it means a teammate will have a better look. His skillset, athleticism, and basketball IQ will make him an extremely exciting point guard to watch for.
Offers of Note: Grambling State

4. David Joplin (6'6 PF Brookfield Central/Phenom U)
One of the top forward prospects in the class, Joplin was an instant impact player as a freshman at Brookfield Central. He already has good strength for his position, and at 6'6 he is able to play and defend both forward spots. At this point a lot of his offense is done inside, where he uses his great strength and advanced footwork to score a lot of buckets down low. He is also capable of taking defenders off the dribble from a wing spot. This skillset allowed him to average 10.7 ppg and 8.6 rpg as a freshman on one of the most talented teams in the state. Over the summer he has been developing an outside jumper, and as he continues to grow as a shooter he will become an ever increasingly dangerous prospect.
Offers of Note: DePaul and UNLV

5. Brayden Dailey (6'5 W Mineral Point/Wisconsin Swing)
Another extremely skilled and long wing in the 2021 class, Brayden has a highly advanced skillset and is already a talented scorer. Like Patrick Baldwin Jr., Brayden has an extremely smooth and under control game, and he can get where he wants on the floor with ease. He has a high release point on his shot which allows him to get it off over defenders. Brayden has shown off a hesitation crossover that opens up a lot of space for his mid-range game. He has also added some athleticism and can finish above the rim off the drive now, adding to his arsenal of offensive moves. He is one of the top scorers in the class, and showed that by averaging 21.3 ppg as a freshman.
Interest From: Wisconsin, Marquette, and Iowa.

6. Cameron Palesse (6'4 W Waukesha West/Phenom U)
Cameron Palesse was arguably the biggest stock riser in the state over the AAU season, adding on to his solid freshman year with a big summer for Phenom University. At 6'4 Cam already possesses a good frame for a wing to go along with solid athleticism. He has a good feel for the game and solid all around fundamentals. He can shoot from three off the catch, and also has a really good pull-up jumper from mid range. Off the dribble Cam has a crafty array of moves to finish at the rim. He averaged 9.4 ppg as a freshman, and could see that number skyrocket as a sophomore after having such a strong off-season.

7. JaKobe Thompson (6' G Racine Case/Milwaukee Spartans)
One of the top scorers in the class, JaKobe Thompson is a straight up bucket getter. He can score in a variety of ways and went on to average 19.7 ppg as a freshman at Racine Case. JaKobe's game has a James Harden feel to it, as the lefty is a very aggressive scoring guard. He is great at getting to the free throw line like Harden, and is a streaky three point shooter. He opens up a lot of opportunities off the dribble with a great pump fake, and can then finish at the rim or pull up for a mid-range. JaKobe has great upside as a player, and could eventually go down as the leading scorer in the city of Racine's history.

8. James Graham Jr. (6'6 SF Nicolet/Phenom U)
James Graham has one of the highest upsides in the class, as he combines length and athleticism with a good feel for the game. He had a strong showing on the AAU circuit with Phenom University, where he impressed with his length and scoring ability. He excels at finishing at the rim, and will likely develop into an explosive rim punisher over the next few years. Graham has also developed a nice outside shot to further increase his offensive effectiveness. James put up 7.8 ppg as a freshman at University School of Milwaukee before transferring to Nicolet to continue his high school education and basketball career. Playing alongside Jalen Johnson and competing with him at practice could prove extremely beneficial for James, as he will be learning from one of the best wings in the country. James' best basketball lies ahead, and he is one prospect to keep an eye on over the next few years.
Offers of Note: Rutgers and Depaul

9. Ben Nau (6'1 PG Brookfield Central/Phenom U)
Ben Nau is likely the top "pure" point guard in the class. He has all of the intangibles of a good floor general combined with a solid frame and scoring ability. He is a relentless defender and is as good at drawing charges as anyone in the state. Playing at any level for Phenom University is a good sign at just how talented a player is, but Ben was good enough to see playing time a year up at 16u for one of the top AAU teams in the country at that age group. On offense Ben is very patient when driving and is an accurate three point shooter when left open from distance. He doesn't force anything offensively and is always willing to pass up a good shot if a teammate has a great shot. He averaged 3.9 ppg as a freshman, and should see an increased role offensively as he hopes to help bring a state title to Brookfield Central.
Offers of Note: DePaul

10. Kobe Johnson (6'1 PG Nicolet/Phenom U)
Among guards, Kobe Johnson could have the highest ceiling in the class. His best basketball lies ahead, as he still appears to have plenty of room to grow physically. Offensively, Kobe is a point guard that can run a team's offense, but also go and get a bucket when needed. He has a very good step back jumper from the mid-range or from three. Kobe possesses a good handle and doesn't force much on offense. He is a very unselfish player who has good vision to find open looks for his teammates. Often times Kobe will get a rebound and has the IQ to immediately look up the court and can deliver a long pass to a streaking teammate for an easy layup. Not many young guards have the awareness to make passes like that in the heat of the moment. With Kobe's potential and present skill, it's no wonder that Division One coaches are already taking notice.
Offers of Note: DePaul
